>> November 2008 >> The Grand Prix in Japan for Ata!
A few weeks after the film obtained the Public Award online,  Ata has just been awarded the Grand Prix of the Prestigious Japanese Con-Can Festival. The Jury, made of Cinema professionals from Japan, China, Finland and the United States, chose the film among 80 shorts from all around the globe. Çagla Zencirci & Guillaume Giovanetti will be invited to Tokyo in December 2008 and will have the honour to receive their trophy during the Award Ceremony of the Festival.

>> January 2009 >> Two fresh selections for Ata
Ata
starts 2009 with two new selections. The film will be first screened in Athens, where it will compete in the "Psarokokalo" Short Film Festival, in early February. It will then move East one week later, as it'll be part of the competition of the very good Turkish Festival "!f Istanbul", before being screened in Ankara little time later.

>> January 2009 >> Ata once more screened in Paris
Ata
is scheduled in the frame of the "Week-ends of the shorts", organised by the Cinéma des Cinéastes, in Paris. It will be screened on Saturday, January the 24th 2009, at noon. A good occasion to watch the film on a big screen, where it will be shown along with other shorts of the company which produced it, Envie de Tempête Productions. Çagla Zencirci & Guillaume Giovanetti will attend the screening.

>> January 2009 >> The first Award in 2009 for Ata!
After having been awarded 10 times in 2008, Ata has just been chosen once again. Indeed, the youth of the Vaulx-en-Velin International Short Film Festival, next to Lyon, France, enjoyed the movie a lot and awarded it the Youth Jury Prize. It's been the first time Ata received such an Award.

The French and Greek capitals will once again show Ata in March. The film will first be screened in the frame of the Women Film Festival of Paris at the beginning of the month, and then will be in competition in late March during the Mediterranean Festival of New Directors of Larissa.
>> February 2009 >> Istanbul awards Ata!
The Istanbul public, in the frame of the prestigious !f Istanbul Festival, has enjoyed Ata. As the film was competing among about 40 shorts, it has just been given the only Price, the Audience Award, which chooses the Best Short Film of the Festival. It's been the first time the film was awarded in the country of the co-director  Çagla Zencirci.

Ata
will once more be shown in a Parisian theater. The "Toiles &toiles" Festival will screen it with other shorts in a theater of the 2nd district. The directors will attend this screening, which will occur on Friday, March the 13th at 8 PM, in the Jean Dame Theater (17 rue Léopold Bellan, 75002 Paris). The screning is free, so come along to take part to the discussions!

>> March 2009 >> Ata in Berlin, Portugal and in the Carribeans!
New Premieres for Ata. The film has just been selected at the Berlin Turkish Film Festival. After shantyGARDENtown at the Berlinale 2007, it's up to the last Middle-length film by Çagla Zencirci & Guillaume Giovanetti to be screened in the German Capital, in late March 2009. The film will then have its Portuguese Premiere in the Competition of the 37th edition of the Prestigious FICA, the International Algarve Cinema Festival, Portugal's oldest Festival. After this, it will go to Cuba, where it's just been selected at the International Humberto Solas Cinema Festival, in Gibara, in the Eastern part of the Island, for its Caribbean Premiere. Ata
has been selected in new International Festivals. It will first compete in one of the most prestigious Moroccan Festivals, the International Tetouan Mediterranean Cinema Festival, in late March. At the same time, it will compete in the B-EST Bucharest International Film Festival, having its Romanian Premiere during this major event of the very dynamic local cinema field. It will then come back to its "native countries", with a selection in the Ankara International Women Film Festival, in May, and at the same time at the International Festival "Paris Spring", organised by the Europe and East House of Paris.

The Juries of the 29th Villeurbanne International Film Festival have been seduced by Ata. The French Competition Jurors' laudatio mentionned the right tone of the film, the work on reality by the Co-Directors and the use of languages, and awarded Çagla Zencirci & Guillaume Giovanetti the Price of the Best Script 2008. In parallel, the Jury of the INSA Cine-Club gave a Special Mention to the Film. All this during a particularly intense Award Ceremony, due to the fact that Villeurbanne is Guillaume Giovanetti's native city.

The International Tirana Film Festival, Albania's main Festival, has just given the Special Mention of the Jury to Ata, which was competiting with more than 40 other films from all over the world. The Jury was made of professionals from the United States, Italy and Albania.

As Ata has been awarded the Grand Prix of the Con-Can Film Festival in Japan, the Co-directors have been invited to Tokyo for the Award Ceremony. It has been a very intense moment, where they could receive their trophy and meet many journalists and embassy representatives. During their stay in the Japanese Capital, they also had the opportunity to shoot a new short film, produced by the Festival! The resulted film, named Six, is currently in post-production and should be ready by Spring 2009.  To be followed!

>> May 2009 >> Ata receives the Prize of Quality by CNC!
After many months of selection among all the films which obtained a visa number in 2008 by the French National Center of Cinema (CNC), Ata has been awarded the prestigious Prize of Quality  2009. This award is meant to underline the artistic and technical qualities of short films, and it is an international quality proof given by the CNC.

In the frame of the prestigious Tétouan Mediterranean Cinema Festival, Ata has just been awarded the Grand Prix by a Jury made of cinema professionals from France, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia. The directors received with a great honour their trophy during a great closing ceremony. It was the 4th time Ata was awarded a first prize in a competition.

>> April 2009 >> Ata in Greece and in Paris Cinéma
The career of Ata goes on in Greece and in France. The film will compete in the frame of the Naoussa International Film Festival, in the North of Greece in early May. It has also been officially selected in Paris Cinéma, the prestigious Festival of the French Capital. The co-directors will present the film, in the middle of the high standard programme of the Festival, in early July 2009.

Ata has been selected in the Hisar Short Film Selection, which gathers the 10 best short films of the year in Turkey. The Jury, made of internationally acclaimed Turkish directors (Hüseyin Karabey, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, etc.), chose the film among more than 300 short films. In the frame of this selection, the film will be shown in several Festivals of Turkey and Europe during the year 2009.

>> March 2009 >> Istanbul invites Ata!
The Istanbul International Film Festival, the main Festival in Turkey, has just selected Ata for its 28th edition. It is a special selection due to the Awards that the film obtained in Turkey and abroad. The co-directors Çagla & Guillaume will have the pleasure to present the Film in the historical Beyoglu theater, in the heart of Istanbul, which appeared in particular in Uzak, by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.

International Festivals go on selecting Ata. In May, the film will be screened at the Diyarbakir Film Festival, South-East Turkey. The next month, it will be shown in competition in the Avignon Mediterranean Film Festival (France) and in the "I've seen Film" Festival in Milan (Italy). In July, it will be part of the non-competitive Foix Film Festival, named "Resistances" (France), and will make its Austrian Premiere in the frame of the 37th edition of the famous Festival of Nations. At the same time, it will be competiting in the Euganea Film Festival, next to Padova, Northern Italy.

At the end of the 37th edition of the famous Festival of Nations of Ebensee, Austria, the International Jury has awarded Ata the UNICA Medal. This award stands for the film with the highest ethical values among all the short films screened during the week of the Festival (more than 700!).

Even before it has competed in the Locarno Film Festival in early August 2009, the last film by Çagla & Guillaume, the Japanese fiction documentary Six, has been selected to several international Festivals. It will first be part of the selection of the 25th Gindou Film Festival, where the co-directors will present the film, one week after Locarno. Then in September, the film will participate to the Doc'Ouest Film Festival (Bretagne, France), before competing in the frame of the Bratislava International Film Festival (Slovakia), in November. The post-production of the last film by Çagla Zencirci & Guillaume Giovanetti, the fiction documentary Six shot in Japan in winter, had ended in spring 2009. The film will now start its career in the very prestigious frame of the 62nd International Locarno Film Festival, Switzerland, one of the oldest Festivals in the world, where it has been selected for the competition "Leopards of Tomorrow". The co-directors will be honoured to come along the "Lac Majeur" to present the film for its World Premiere in early August 2009.

>> September 2009 >> Six in the "Ecrans Documentaires" Festival
Six goes on to be selected in major film festivals. After Locarno and the FIDMarseille Documentary Festival, the last film by Çagla & Guillaume has just been selected in one the main events of "Cinéma du Réel" in France, the Documentary Screens of Arcueil. The Festival, which screens a selection of the best short and feature documentaries of 2009, will take place in south Paris from the 27th of October to the 1st of November. Furthermore, the films has been selected for the competition of the Lyon Asian Film Festival, that will follow Arcueil, in early November.

After the Silhouette Festival and the awards ceremony of the contis Festiva, where it was screened in the Entrepôt Theater, Six will be screened once again in Paris, in the frame of the "Free Screen Festival" of the "Toiles &toiles" association. Like Ata a few months ago, the film has been selected and will be shwn in the Jean Dame theater (17 rue Léopold Bellan, 75002 Paris), on Tuesday, October the 6th 2009. There is free admission, and the co-directors will be there for a discussion after the screening. So come along !

>> September 2009 >> 2 Awards and a broadcast for Ata!
Ata goes on being appreciated, as it's just been awarded its 5th Grand Prix, at the end of the Nancy Film Festival, France. The Jury awarded a "very sentitive work, close to documentary, revealing the humanity of its characters, in both a poetic and political film." They also decided to award a Special Prize for interpretation to Ahatjan Ali! Furthermore, the film will be broadcast for the first time on TV, on Sunday, September the 20th at 8 PM on the French Satellite Channel Ciné Cinéma, with several broadcast on the week of September the 21st.

>> August 2009 >> Ata goes on its life
While the fiction documentary Six starts the International Film Festival circuit, Ata, the previous film by Çagla & Guillaume, goes on being selected. In the next weeks, the film will take part in 11 International Cinema Events. First, in the Slow Film Festival, for the Hungarian Premiere of the film, in early August. Then, the film will compete in the 13rd Bangkok International Thai Film Festival, for its Thailandese Premiere, and will take part in the London Portobello Short Film Festival. Back to France then, where the film will be in competition in September in the Nancy International Film Festival, before being screened in Sardaigna, Italy, in the Passagi D'Autore Festival. In October, Ata will compete in the Moulins Jean Carmet Festival, France, and in Marseilles-Hyères Women Film Festival. It will be screened in La Rochelle for a Turkish Cinema Retrospective in the M'as-tu vu ? Festival, at the same time than in the Saint-Maur Short Film Festival and the Bobigny Résonances Film Festival, North Paris. And, last but not least, the film has just been selected to compete in the Abu Dhabi International Middle-East Film Festival 2009. A nice tour for the film, one and a half year after it was completed!

After its presentation in Locarno, where more than 2000 people watched it in competition, the last Japanese movie by Çagla & Guillaume starts up its career. Six will indeed be in the selection of the excellent Paris Silhouette Film Festival in early September. A few weeks later, it will be screened in the Contis International Film Festival, on France's South-Ouest Coast, and then will compete in the Beirut International Documentary Film Festival, Lebanon. Finally, in October, it will be in the competition of the Lyon New Generation Cinema Festival. To be continued!

During fall 2009, Six will once more be shown next to the Ocean. It will first be shown in the Dieppe Festival, in Normandy, in late September. Then, the film will compete in the very good Documentary Festival of La Rochelle, the "Escales Documentaires" , in November.

The first feature film by Çagla Zencirci & Guillaume Giovanetti, The Pakistani Movie Noor, has just been selected in the ACID section of the Cannes International Film Festival 2012, for its world Premiere! The co-directors will attend this event, the main one in the world cinema industry, along with their (non-)actor Noor himself.
